Sanchez will next be seen starring opposite John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson and Giovanni Ribisi in Basic for director John McTiernan. This is a Phoenix Pictures/Intermedia production in which Sanchez plays an elite soldier for the U.S. Army Rangers. Her role in this action/adventure was written for a man; however, after seeing Rush Hour 2, McTiernan was intent on Sanchez playing the part.
Immediately following the release of Basic, Sanchez will hit the big screen in the Forest Whitaker-produced film Chasing Papi for Fox 2000.
At the age of 19, the San Juan beauty was part of Puerto Rico's number one comedy/variety show, Que Vacilon. When she turned 21, Sanchez took the biggest risk of her life, leaving her family and blossoming career behind to make her way to New York. She arrived barely speaking English, fueled only by her love of movies, theater, dance, and song.
Once in New York, Sanchez immediately starred in two Spanish musicals, landed a role in the CBS soap opera As the World Turns, and wrote and preformed her own one-woman show, Out Here On My Own. She also auditioned for the television show Fame L.A., and landed the lead role of dancer Lili Arguelo (which subsequently moved her to Los Angeles). Roselyn tackled the role with a passion and purpose that made her the show's most popular character.
Other projects include a starring role in the Trimark release, Held Up, opposite Jamie Foxx and Nia Long, and a police officer in the F. Gary Gray-produced series Ryan Caulfield: Year One for Fox. Sanchez is also the new spokesperson for the Pepsi brand Sierra Mist. The print/radio/commercial campaign is being released in both Spanish and English markets.
Sanchez recently completed production on the independent film Nightstalker, which is loosely based on the Richard Ramirez killings in California during the 1980s.
